Douglas Andrew Rodgers, 53, of Point Pleasant passed away in his sleep on Friday, May 27, 2022. Doug was born on October 21, 1968.He was a dedicated employee of the City of Point Pleasant for 35 years.Doug enjoyed golfing, fishing, and mushroom hunting in the spring.He was an avid NASCAR fan and a devoted follower of the Minnesota Vikings as well as Marshall and WVU football.He enjoyed trips with his family to the beach and loved nothing more than sitting on the porch overlooking a trout stream. He most recently discovered the joy of being a grandfather, which he said was “the best thing ever.” Doug was preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Dennis Rodgers, as well as his grandparents, Bert and Betty Rodgers and Elmore Casto and an aunt Linda Rodgers. He is survived by his parents, Dan and Lil Rodgers and Jeanie and Bob Brooks; grandmother, Jean Casto; one son, Derek (Cassie) Rodgers and one daughter, Shelby (Wyatt) Wamsley; one brother Daniel Rodgers; five grandchildren, Daxton, Blake, Lexi, Aivah, and Audrey; and his niece and nephews, Leslie, David, and Dennis Rodgers. A funeral service will be 11a.m. Friday, June 3, 2022, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Rev. Bennie Stevens, Pastor Nathan Fowler and Daniel Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
