Douglas Leroy Bugg, 64, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother of Gallipolis Ferry died Friday, April 6, 2007 at the St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV. He was a retired maintenance mechanic with the Army Corp of Engineers at the Racine Locks and Dam, a U. S. Army veteran, and member of the American Legion Post #140 of New Haven. Douglas was born January 12, 1943 in Gallipolis Ferry to Amanda Lee (Messick) Bugg of Gallipolis Ferry, and the late Glen Franklin Bugg. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ricky Bugg and Franklin Junior Bugg. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Mary Gail (Wetherholt) Bugg of Gallipolis Ferry; a son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Jennifer Bugg of Scarbro, WV; two daughters and son-in-law, Ellen Bugg of Gallipolis Ferry, and Janice and Orion Briel of Letart; two grandchildren, Dean and Ashley Briel of Letart; a sister and brother-in-law, Louetta and David Oliver of Gallipolis Ferry; two brothers and sister-in-law, Carl Bugg of Gallipolis Ferry; and Larry and Marilyn Bugg of Clifton, a sister-in-law, Annalee Meadows of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Birchfield and Rev. Dorsel Messick officiating. Burial will follow in the Wyoma Cemetery at Gallipolis Ferry. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
