Dotty Lou Rickard died peacefully at home beside her family, on Saturday, March 1, 2025. She was born on July 18, 1933, in Reedy, WV.
Her life was her family, church and friends. A faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, Dotty was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Point Pleasant, where she was crowned the 2024 Valentine Queen. She loved participating in the Silver Sneakers group, enjoying the fellowship of many friends. She also loved playing bingo and other games at the Prime Timers lunches which take place at the Nazarene Church's Fellowship Hall. One of her favorite things was being at home, spending time with her family and longtime pets Sadie Belle and Paige Ellen. She was a foster grandparent for many years and a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1951.
Dotty was preceded in death by her parents, Robert H. and Hazel M. Baker; her husband, William H. Rickard; her daughter, Mikki Lou Rickard-Watson; her precious grandson, Bo Rickard; her brother, David Gainer; and her niece, Robin Gainer.
Survivors include, two sons, Gregory H. Rickard and Gary W. (Dee) Rickard both of Point Pleasant; three grandchildren, Mindy Jett, Sean (Erin) Rickard and Olivia (Brandon) Mash; and seven great grandchildren, Ryder, Elora, Nicolas, Cayden, Emma, Noah and Scarlett; and nephew, Shane Gainer.
Dotty leaves behind the following very special friends: Golda Hess (her "sister"), Ginny Dunlap, Tom and Becky Epling, Lee and Eve Mahone, Bev Vickers and many other wonderful neighbors and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Doug Hendrixson officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Wednesday at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
