Dorothy Rae Johnson

Dorothy Rae (Simpson) Johnson, 86, of Point Pleasant died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant. Dorothy was employed with the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources in Point Pleasant, and was a former employee of the O. J. Morrison's Department Store in Point Pleasant. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant and a member of the Order of Eastern Star #75 of Point Pleasant. She was born March 28, 1921 in Jackson, Kentucky to the late Emory Calvin and Elizabeth (Robinson) Simpson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie "Bill" W. Johnson; two sisters, Marjorie Moss and Louise Smith; and one brother, Emory Bud Simpson. Surviving are her children, Judy Dennis (Terry) of Point Pleasant and Rev. Daniel B. Johnson (Becky) of Beckley, WV; seven grandchildren, Jenny Rife, T. D. Dennis, Joe Dennis, Rae Ann Epling, Neil Johnson, Kate Johnson and Anne Johnson; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; one sister, Betty Brown of Rochester, Minn.; three brothers, David "Cheyenne" Simpson of Point Pleasant, John Simpson of Marion, SC; and Edwin Simpson of Arlington, VA. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home with Rev. Richard DeQuasie officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the United Methodist Temple at 201 Templeview Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
