Dorothy P. Bird, 77, of Point Pleasant died Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. Dorothy was a 40 year member of Faith Gospel Church of Gallipolis Ferry, and a retired physician's assistant retiring in 1990 with 20 years service from Holzer Clinic. She enjoyed quilting and painting and four years ago she started an internet prayer chain. She was born June 9, 1930 in Mt. Olive, WV to the late Eber Joseph Clonch and Thelma Irene (Johnson) Clonch. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Harmon and James Clonch. Surviving are her husband, James Lester Bird whom she married June 22, 1953; two daughters, Beverly (Rev. George) Lockhart of Avon Park, Florida; and Connie (Glenn) McClellan of Scott Depot, WV; three sons, Jeff (Treva) Bird of Hinton, WV; Doug (Judy) Bird of Wellston, Ohio; and Robert Bird of Point Pleasant; six grandchildren, James and Rachel Lockhart; Chris and Felicia Bird; J. T. Bird, and Robyn Bird; one great grandson, J. J. Bird; two brothers, Joseph Clonch and Robert Clonch of Mt. Olive, WV and a sister Peggy Bragg of Oak Hill, WV. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home with Rev. Sanders Rulen and Rev. George Lockhart officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
