Dorothy Ball

Dorothy (Wheaton) Ball, 92, of Apple Grove, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV. She was born June 29, 1918 in Upland, WV, a daughter of the late John Freeman Wheaton and Mary (Sturgeon) Wheaton. Dorothy was a member of Ashton Baptist Church, and a retired teacher from Mason County Schools. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rodric R. Ball; a grandson, John Scott Vickers; one brother, Douglas Wheaton; and two sisters, Vermonia J. Wheaton and Vernenna R. Barnett. She is survived by a son, Rick (Vikki) Ball of Ashton; one daughter, Rosemary (John) Vickers of Apple Grove; five grandchildren, Michele Lambert, Valeri (Steven) Schoon, Danny (Emily) Ball, Leah (Jody) Chapman, and Ryan Arrowood; seven great grandchildren, Rachel Lambert, Madalyn Lambert, Aria Schoon, Andrew Schoon, Tyler Ball, Carson Ball, and Elijah Chapman; two special nieces, JoAnn Hodges and Dorothy Turley; a special great nephew, Danny (Karen) Hodges; a special great niece, Anna Ventura; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2011 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Max Spurlock, Ronald Long, and Danny Hodges officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Zion Cemetery at Fraziers Bottom, WV. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
