Doris Ann (Humphreys) Long 81, of Point Pleasant, WV, died Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was a graduate of Elkview High School and St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a Health Nurse and a nurse at Pleasant Valley Hospital where she was Director of Nurses, as well as an operating room nurse. She retired as plant nurse from the Goodyear Plant, Apple Grove, WV. Mrs. Long attended Bellemead United Methodist Church. Mrs. Long was born July 27, 1928 in Kanawha County to the late Eric and Lydia (Brookman) Humphreys. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Long; five brothers, Clemit, Robert, Queue J., Gordon, and Orville; and one sister, Janet Cochran. A son-in-law, Merrill Davis, also preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Glenn (Linda) Long of Point Pleasant, Lydia Davis of Gallipolis, OH, Clemit (Brenda) Long of Point Pleasant, Karen (Dave) Jackson of Point Pleasant, Debbie (John) Bryant of Point Pleasant, and Ellen (Joe) Smith of Point Pleasant. Also, surviving are grandchildren, Staci Newsome, Sheri Warner, Jeremy Bryant, Adam Bryant, Lori Byus, Beth Greenlee, Robbie Greenlee, Scott Davis, Jon Osborne, Josh Osborne, Jerrod Long, Kerra Jackson, and Jay Jackson. She has twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Along with these, she is survived by her sisters, Charlotte Strickland of Clendenin, WV, Margaret Naylor of Hurricane, WV; her brother, Marshall Humphreys of Scott Depot, WV; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Carney of Seth, WV, Mary Morgan of Port Orange, Florida; and a brother-in-law, William Long of Elkview, WV. Special friends were her Widows Lunch Bunch, and Kathleen Marnhout. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant, with Rev. Rick DeQuasie officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Serving as pallbearers will be members of the family.
