Donnie (Don) Brown, 67, of Point Pleasant, completed his earthly journey today, Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Born in Hardy, Pike County, KY on March 18, 1949, to Millie (Scott) Brown and Claude Brown, who both preceded him in death. Don leaves behind in the loving care of the Lord Jesus; his precious, caring and loving wife, Tammy, who was always at his side; his daughter who was one of his many gifts from God, Kerri (Brown) Smith of Huntington; his two granddaughters who were the earthly lights of his life, Makennah Lewis, Marshall University and Aubrey Lewis, University of Charleston. Don also leaves his step-mother, Inis Brown of Sidney, KY; sister, Melinda (Steve) Bowman of Erwin, TN; half-sister, Janie (Brown) Vermillion of Forest Hills, KY; two step-brothers, Roger (Linda) Thornsbury and Keith (Tammy) Thornsbury both of Paintsville, KY; and nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. Don was a Vietnam veteran who like thousands of others was knowingly exposed to a chemical agent (Agent Orange) by his own government, directly contributing to his suffering and death! "Day of reckoning will come for all!" He turned to the Lord Jesus as a young man, stumbling, falling, and coming up short on his journey, but always receiving mercy, forgiveness, love and yes chastisement, but always loving arms of Jesus down to the end. Don said, "he believed he fell asleep in hope of awakening in his likeness." Bless his merciful name forever! "My family and loved ones, forgive one another while there is time for it to make a difference. I leave you all in the arms of Jesus and beg you to live and follow his "WORD" as it is written (KJV). I pray I have been loving to you all." A visitation will be from 10 a.m. till noon Monday, July 18, 2016, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant. Burial will be at the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar, WV. Condolences may be expressed to the family and memories may be shared by visiting www.wilcoxnfuneralhome.com.
