Donna L. Parsons, 77, of Point Pleasant, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. She was born August 9, 1938, in Point Pleasant, a daughter of the late Hobart Dewees and Mary Emma (Cromley) Dewees. Donna loved people, life and music and she shared that love everywhere she went. She attended New Hope Bible Baptist Church of Point Pleasant and Cornerstone Baptist Fellowship of Sebastian, FL. She was a member of the Tri-State Mountain Dulcimer Society of Huntington, Dulcimers-Plus of Vero Beach and the Roseland Music Guild of Roseland, Fl. She also was a member of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and American Legion Auxiliary 23 of Point Pleasant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Bill Pauley; and one brother and sister-in-law, Hobart, Jr. and Janette Dewees; a sister-in-law, Ellen Dewees; and a brother-in-law, Bill Durst. Surviving relatives include her loving husband, Carl R. Parsons; two daughters and son-in-law, Dawn and Raymond Gandee, of Point Pleasant and Gwen Haffelt, of Huntington; two bonus sons and a bonus daughter, Richie (Suzi) Parsons, of Ft. Pierce, FL, Johnnie (Chris) Parsons, of Charlotte, NC, and Purna "Cookie" Parsons, of Austin, TX; two granddaughters and grandson, Chelsi Gandee (Ryan Spaulding) of Bidwell, OH, Raymond "Ray" Gandee, Jr. (Caleigh Cale and Harper) of Point Pleasant, and Karli Gandee (Brandon Shinn) of Point Pleasant; a great-grandson, Asher Gandee; six bonus grandchildren, Eric (Rebekah) Parsons, Leah Dillon and her mother, Kathy, Jim Parsons (Alycia), Julie Roeger (Adam), Jeannie Davis (Eric), Jodie Strong (Dan); and 10 bonus great-grandchildren, Jason, Elizabeth, Amberleigh, Campbell, Dean, Ellie, Will, Emerson, Lennon, and Caleb. She is also survived by a brother, Billy V. Dewees, of Lesage, WV; a sister, Rev. Annetta J. Durst, of Letart, WV; a brother-in-law, Delmar Parsons, of Point Pleasant; several nieces and nephews, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews; special friends Sue Scott of Florida and Ray Pickens of Point Pleasant; special friend and care giver, Areba James of Florida; and musician friends from West Virginia, Florida and all over the United States. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations in her name to either, Cornerstone Baptist Fellowship, 1091 Schumann Drive, Sebastian, Florida 32958 or National Multiple Sclerosis, 2 Players Club Drive, #104, Charleston, WV 25311. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Rev. Charles Moses and Pastor Steven Sanderson officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Thursday at the funeral home.
