Delbert L. McCartney, 71, of Senecaville, Ohio, died Monday, May 26, 2008 at the Guernsey Memorial Hospital in Cambridge, Ohio. Delbert was retired from Columbus Steel Drum with 25 years service, a U. S. Marine veteran, and member of the NRA. He was born October 29, 1936 to the late Wilson and Icie (Jarvis) McCartney. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Elwin McCartney; and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are his wife, Gladys (Beller) McCartney; a son and daughter-in-law, Ellis and Mary Ann McCartney of Grove City, Ohio; three grandsons, Michael McCartney; Billy McCartney and fiancee Diane Bird; and Adam Bradford; a granddaughter, Beth Carpenter; and a sister, Eleanor Franklin of Byesville, Ohio. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2008 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home with Rev. Delbern McCartney officiating. Burial will follow in the Walker Chapel Cemetery at Robertsburg, WV where Military graveside rites will be given by American Legion Post 23 of Point Pleasant. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
