David A. Gainer, 76, of Point Pleasant, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born May 16, 1930 in Reedy, WV to the late Frank Gainer and Hazel M. (Law) Baker. David was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, a retired inspector from the Army Corp of Engineers with 25 years service, a 1948 graduate of Spencer High School, served in the U. S. Air Force, and had previously worked for FEMA, the WV School Building Authority and clerk of works for the Mason County Board of Education. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert H. Baker. Surviving are his wife of 17 years Carol S. (Robertson) Gainer of Point Pleasant whom he married November 8, 1988, a daughter, Robin Ann Gainer of Point Pleasant; a son and daughter-in-law, David S. and Mary Gainer of Poquoson, Virginia, a stepdaughter, Karen L. Murphy of Barboursville, WV, a stepson and his wife, Michael D. and Kecia Murphy of Holly Springs, NC, two granddaughters, Taylor and Hunter Murphy of Holly Springs, NC, three step grandchildren, Nathan, John, and Daniel Ingham, of Virginia; a sister and brother-in-in law, Dotty L. and Hugh Rickard of Point Pleasant and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2006 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Point Pleasant with Pastor Jim Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant, with military graveside rites given by American Legion Post #23 of Pont Pleasant. Visitation will be Friday, June 9,2006 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m, and one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday.
