David Lee Darst

David Lee Darst, 79, of Point Pleasant, died Friday, February 20, 2015, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, in Huntington, WV. He was born December 14, 1935, in Point Pleasant, a son of the late Frank E. "Shag" Darst and Oma M. (Snodgrass) Darst. David was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1954, and served his country in the United States Army during the Berlin Crisis. He was a member of the Army National Guard No. 3664th Ordnance Company of Point Pleasant, Mason County Coon Hunters Association, Ohio Valley Horseman's Association and Carpenters Local No. 1159 of Point Pleasant. He was the former owner of the Economy Food Market in Point Pleasant and had worked as a carpenter on construction. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph "Joey" Thompson; and two sisters, Ruth S. Shobe and Mary Ann Plants. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy (Wedge) Darst of Point Pleasant; a daughter, Lori (Joey) Thompson of Point Pleasant; one son, David (Brenda) Darst of Point Pleasant; five grandchildren, Jessica (Stephen) Holley, Mitchell (Desirae) Smith, Matthew (Rikki) Thompson, Anthony Darst and Alissa (Gabriel) Roush; and two great grandchildren, Khloie Peck and Nick Lyons. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Joe Nott officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Letart.
