Daniel Sherman Killingsworth

Daniel "Dan" Sherman Killingsworth, 85, of Point Pleasant, WV, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Pleasant Valley Hospital. He was born January 25, 1930, in Southside, a son of the late Howard Killingsworth and Eva Florence (Gearhart) Killingsworth. Dan was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1947 and retired with 40 plus years service as general manager of Carolina Lumber. He was also retired with 20 years of service from the WV Army National Guard, 3664th Light Maintenance Company in Point Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Alva Jean Durbin. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Deloris Jean (Stewart) Killingsworth of Point Pleasant; one son, John Mark (Amy) Killingsworth of Montgomery, AL; four grandchildren, Nathan Daniel (Beth) Killingsworth of Knoxville, TN, Mark Adam Killingsworth of Montgomery, AL, Jonathan Bradley (Nicole) Killingsworth of Montgomery, AL and Matthew Christian Killingsworth of Knoxville, TN; two great grandchildren, Alice Marie Killingsworth and Davis Bradley Killingsworth; one sister, Macy Lou (Kenneth) Carter of Hartford; two brothers, Howard "Junior" Killingsworth of Point Pleasant and Okey R. (Mayben) Killingsworth of Petersburg, VA. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, February 9, 2015, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Rev. Charles Marker officiating. Burial will follow at Graham Cemetery in New Haven, where military graveside rites will be given by the WV Army Honor Guard and the American Legion Post #23 of Point Pleasant.
