Dana Lee Nowlin, born January 20, 1934, left this earth Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at age 79. He is survived by Helen Joyce Nowlin his loving wife of 58 years. Dana graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 1951 prior to entering the United States Air Force. He then enlisted with the West Virginia National Guard and was activated during the Berlin Crisis. Recently, the State of West Virginia presented Dana with a West Virginia State Flag in recognition for his years of service and dedication to his country. He was an avid motorcyclist of 55 years, during which time he and his wife Joyce toured 49 states on their Gold Wing motorcycle, where upon they made many life long friendships. At age 75, Dana traveled cross country on his Gold Wing motorcycle to California, then back to his treasured wife and home of West Virginia. Joyce and Dana provided a loving home in Apple Grove, WV, where they raised three children, Sherry Henry, Teresa (Joe) Fralic, and Mike (Brenda) Nowlin. Their lives have been further blessed with grandchildren, Tyler Henry, Christie (Nate) Olson, Nick Fralic, James Nowlin, Jacob Nowlin, and two great grandchildren, Emma Grace and Ava Rose Olson. Dana also has a sister, Linda (Paul) Williams. Waiting for Dana in their heavenly home are his parents, Ottie and Thelma Nowlin; brother, Don Nowlin; as well as his father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Clera Stacy. A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV. A motorcycle escort to a graveside farewell will proceed to Beale Chapel Cemetery in Apple Grove, WV. Riders are encouraged to parade the cemetery for participation in a traditional motorcycle salute.
