Chris W. Barnette, 42, of Ashton, WV died Monday, May 26, 2008 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV. Chris was a member of the Balls Chapel Church of Ashton. He was also a member of the United Steel Workers Local 1562 of Huntington; a U. S. Army veteran; and was employed at Alcon Surgical in Lesage. He was born May 3, 1966 in Gallipolis, Ohio to James W. Barnette and Loretta J. (Leport) Barnette of Gallipolis Ferry. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Willard W. Barnette; and maternal grandparents, Rabbi Leport and Harriette (Bartrum) Leport. Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Marcella (Tolliver) Barnette whom he married October 22, 1994; a son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Michelle Edmonds of Point Pleasant; two daughters and son-in-law, Ashley Edmonds of Ashton; and Kayla (Barnette) Patterson and Joshua Patterson of Point Pleasant; five grandchildren, Skylar Edmonds, Yanara Gonzalez, Marshall Edmonds, Kelly Patterson, Nikki Dawne Edmonds; a sister, Missy (Jason) Stover of Gallipolis Ferry; a brother, James W. Barnette II of Gallipolis Ferry; paternal grandmother, Myrtle Barnette of Point Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m, Friday, May 30, 2008 at the Moores Chapel Church with Pastors Joe Dolen and Mark Mayes officiating. Burial will follow in the Moores Chapel Cemetery in Ashton where Military graveside rites will be given by American Legion Post 23 of Point Pleasant. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church Friday.
