Cheryl Lynn Matheny

Cheryl Lynn Matheny, 65, of Leon, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at home. She was born October 3, 1956, in Point Pleasant, a daughter of the late Paul William Hudson and Frances Marie (VanSickle) Hudson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nina J. (Manford) Bowles; and one brother Paul D. Hudson. Cheryl was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School and retired from the United States Postal Service, as clerk from the Southside Post Office. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Gary Lee Matheny of Leon; children, Rachel (Shane) Clonch of Gallipolis, OH and Jared Matheny of Leon; granddaughters, Kaydence M. Clonch and Brooklin K. Clonch of Gallipolis; one sister, Ramona Cerquettine of California; a brother, Roger Hudson of California; sister-in-law, Nellie Hudson of Southside; and several nieces, nephews and baby pup Gunner. A graveside service and burial will be held at noon Friday, March 25, 2022, at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Leon, with Pastor Bud Clonch officiating.Arrangements are under the direction of Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
