Charles Edison Cottrill, 95, of Point Pleasant, died peacefully at his home, and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 1, 2009. Charles was born October 18, 1914 in Carmen, Oklahoma, to the late Rev. Lee Anderson Cottrill and Theodosia (Pickens) Cottrill. He was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School, and later attended New River College (West Virginia Tech) in Montgomery. He retired from the Kaiser Aluminum Plant in Ravenswood in 1982. Charles was a member of Heights United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant since 1924, where he had served as lay leader, Sunday School teacher, and a member of the church choir. He was a member of Minturn Lodge No. 19 A.F. & A.M. of Point Pleasant, a 50 year member of Beni Kedem Shrine Temple of Charleston, and had served as a council member for the City of Point Pleasant. His major interests included farming, gardening, and hunting. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Jewell (Bailey) Cottrill; brothers, Dr. Clarence Cottrill and Clair Cottrill; and one sister, Vurl Randolph. Surviving are one sister, Virginia Orr of Dunbar; his children, Beverly Fleischer of Point Pleasant and Cupertino, CA, Ann (Bill) Peoples of West Palm Beach, FL, Pamela (Jim) Howell of Steinhatchee, FL, Connie (Don) Gilbert of Columbus, OH, Deborah Moore of Point Pleasant, Charles E. "Bud", (LuAnne) Cottrill Jr. of St. Albans, and Martha (Jerry) Steele of Vienna; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Heights United Methodist Church with Rev. Janice Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Suncrest Cemetery in Point Pleasant. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
