Cecil Evan Minton

Cecil Evan Minton, 83, of Point Pleasant, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015, surrounded by his wife and daughters at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. He was born October 10, 1931, in McArthur, Ohio, a son of the late Wylye T. Minton and Merle (Fout) Minton. Cecil was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant. He graduated from Point Pleasant High School Class of 1949, served his country in the United States Navy for four years, and graduated from West Virginia University. He had owned Village Insurance in Point Pleasant since 1968, and was past president and member of Rotary. Cecil was an avid WVU sports fan, and avid golfer who enjoyed being part of the Senior Golf League on Tuesdays at Riverside Golf Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sister-in-law, Gary and Lovea Lee Minton and Nial Minton. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Nancy Sayre Minton; two daughters, Diana (Greg) Johnson of Elkins, WV and Ellen (Tim) Potter of Point Pleasant; four grandchildren, Jessica Johnson of Columbia, MO, Tim Johnson of Arlington, VA, Alex Potter and Evan Potter of Point Pleasant; and many special nieces, nephew and great nieces, and nephews. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 24, 2014, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Rev. Jim Kelly officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till service time at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant.
