Carolyn Jane Green

Carolyn Jane Green, 71, of Milton, WV, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at St. Mary's Medical Center, in Huntington, WV. She was born June 14, 1948, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Herschel Harold Shank and Rosa Mae (Powell) Shank. Carolyn was a member and church pianist of the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Fraziers Bottom, WV. She retired from the Mason County Schools, where she was a teacher of business education at Hannan High School for 35 years. She was also a member of the West Virginia Education Association and National Education Association. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James F. Green of Milton; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Mike Hughes of Milton; grandson, Evan Hughes of Milton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Warren Cornell of Dunbar, WV, Betty and Pat Smith of Huntington, WV, Freddie and Tina Green of Fraziers Bottom and Richard and Alesia Green of Hurricane, WV; and several nieces, nephews and extended family. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2020, at the Mount Zion Baptist Church, with Pastor Chuck Elkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Saturday at the church. Due to the recommendations and guidelines of this unprecedented time, social distancing and recommended face mask are suggested. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Zion Baptist Church Building Fund, 406 Mount Zion Road, Fraziers Bottom, WV 25082.
