Carl R. Parsons, 84, of Point Pleasant, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016, at Holzer Medical Center, in Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born July 2, 1932, in Gallipolis, a son of the late Joseph Clayton Parsons and Docha (Cottrill) Parsons. Carl attended New Hope Bible Baptist Church in Point Pleasant and Cornerstone Baptist Fellowship Church in Sebastian, FL. He retired as director of data processing for General Motors. He was a member of the Tri-State Mountain Dulcimer Society of Huntington, WV, Dulcimer-Plus of Vero Beach, FL and the Roseland Music Guild of Roseland, FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wives, Purna (Snowden) Parsons and Donna Lue (Dewees) Parsons; two brothers and sister-in-law, Denver (Velma) Parsons and Charles Parsons; sister and brother-in-law, Eloise (Lewis) Huling; and sister-in-law, Rachel Parsons. He is survived by one daughter, Purna L. "Cookie" Parsons of Austin, TX; two sons, Richie (Suzi) Parsons of Fort Pierce, FL and Johnnie (Chris) Parsons of Charlotte, NC; two bonus daughters, Dawn (Raymond) Gandee of Point Pleasant and Gwen Haffelt of Huntington; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Delmar Parsons of Point Pleasant; sister-in-law, Madelyn Parsons of Westerville, OH; and several nieces, nephews, and lots of friends. A funeral service will be 7 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Steven Sanderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday prior to the funeral service. Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2016 at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, Ohio.
