Carl Richard "Dick" Hood

Carl Richard "Dick" Hood, 81, of Point Pleasant, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV. He was born April 12, 1940, in Pomeroy, OH, a son of the late Harold Avery Herman Hood and Theria Marie (McKenzie) Hendrix. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Ann (Henry) Hood; brothers, Harold "Boone" Hood and Arthur "Buck" Hood. Dick was a member of New Hope Bible Baptist Church in Point Pleasant.He was a graduate of Pomeroy High School Class of 1959, a Pleasant Valley Hospital Auxiliary member, courier for Pleasant Valley Hospital and retired from OVEC-Kyger Creek Power Plant in Cheshire, Ohio.In his younger years he enjoyed playing basketball, softball and bowling.He was admired and loved by all who knew him and he never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lala Diane (McCoy) Hood of Point Pleasant; daughters, Angela (Larry) Edge of Point Pleasant, Carla Powell of Riverview, FL and Vicki (Jeff) Curry of Barboursville, WV; a son,Jerry (Ashley) Anderson of Logan, WV; grandchildren, Jason Powell and Brandon Powell of Riverview, Justin (Abby) Taylor of Maineville, OH, Devan Duckworth of Point Pleasant, Nicole Pierce of Lawton, OK and Brandon Edge of Point Pleasant; great-grandchildren, Hunter Powell, Logan Powell, Landen Powell, Tarryn Pierce and Teagan Pierce; a sister, Mary Kathryn Greer of Pomeroy; and numerous nephews and nieces. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2022, at the New Hope Bible Baptist Church in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Dean Warner and Rev. Mel Mock officiating.Burial will follow at the Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant.Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
