Calvin R. Mcdaniel

Calvin R. McDaniel, 83, of Point Pleasant, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021, at home. He was born August 11, 1937, in Mason, WV, a son to the late Curtis O. and Barbara (Schwarz) McDaniel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Curtis and Charris; and a sister, Barbara Saunders. Calvin was a 1955 graduate of Wahama High School.He joined Ohio Valley Electric Corporation, Kyger Creek Plant in 1955 as a laborer in the Labor Department.During the same year, he transferred to the Maintenance Department as a maintenance helper.He was promoted to Maintenance Mechanic-C in 1957, to Maintenance Mechanic-B in 1965, and to Maintenance Mechanic-A in 1979 and to Maintenance Supervisor. He was treasurer of the Utility Workers Union from 1962 to retirement August 1, 1999. He has been a member of the Grand Lodge of West Virginia, Minturn Lodge No. 19A.F. & A.M. of Point Pleasant, WVUSA for over 50 years, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Point Pleasant Chapter No. 75. Calvin was a loving spouse, father, and grandfather and brought his children up in the Trinity United Methodist Church. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.Calvin was always helping everyone, family, friends, and neighbors.He never stopped working and could repair anything. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn L. McDaniel of Point Pleasant; children, Denise (Bill) Harper of South Charleston, Christine Moore of Georgetown, KY and C.R. McDaniel of Fort Lauderdale, FL.He is also survived by grandchildren, Alexandra Harper of Lexington, KY, Sterling and Simon Moore of Georgetown, KY, and Calvin III and Aleena McDaniel of Morgantown, WV; and a sister, Sharon (Carl) Archer of Mooresville, NC. A private family graveside service will be Monday, March 1, 2021, at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant, with Rev. Dr. Ellis Conley officiating.
