Bobby Joe "Bob" Swain, 88, of Point Pleasant, WV, died Friday, October 30, 2015, at Pleasant Valley Hospital. He was born December 28, 1926, in Mercerville, OH, a son of the late Webster Thomas Swain and Garnett (Donnally) Swain. Bob served his country in the United States Army and retired as Command Sergeant Major. For many years he was a prominent business owner in the area. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 23 of Point Pleasant and the Mason County Coon Hunters Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Junior Swain; and two sisters, Naomi Ringgold and Patty Wilcox. He is survived by his wife, Wanda L. (Hazelwood) Swain of Point Pleasant; sons, Jason (Tera) Swain of Gallipolis Ferry, WV, Bryan (Narrisa) Swain of Alamogordo, NM and Gary (Kerry) Swain of Olympia, Washington; four daughters, Carolyn (Mike) Sheets of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Sandy (Alfredo) Campo of El Paso, TX, Shirley Johnson of Fisher, IN and Beverly (Mike Dial) Swain of Gallipolis, OH. Also surviving are two brothers, John (Della) Swain of Cheshire, OH and Lewis "Jack" (Patty) Swain of Columbus, OH; one sister, Peggy Cahill of Columbus; eleven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. A funeral service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Rev. Leland VanMeter officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. Military graveside honors will be given by the West Virginia Army Honor Guard.
