Bill L. Brady

"Amazing Dad" and "Dan Dan", Bill L. Brady, 77, of Gallipolis, Ohio, departed this life Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant. He was the former plant manager and worldwide manufacturing manager of AKZO Chemical with 40 years service, and former owner of Oscar's Restaurant in Gallipolis. Bill was a graduate of University of Texas, and had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Point Pleasant Moose, the Elks Club of Gallipolis, Ohio, Point Pleasant Emergency Squad, and American Legion Post No. 23 of Point Pleasant. He had served as a past member of the Mason County Board of Education, president of the Pleasant Valley Hospital Aphasia and Stroke Support Group, and was active in the Point Pleasant Community Theater. Bill was born July 5, 1932 in Amarillo, Texas, to the late Harold Thomas Brady and Susie (Fowler) Brady. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, his wife, Evelyn C. Brady; two brothers, Earl Brady and Fred T. Brady; and one sister, Millie Buthker. Surviving are two daughters, Lauri and Chuck Johnson of Point Pleasant, and Melissa Brady and fiance Doug Carter of Norton, VA; one son, Bill L. and Diane Brady of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Allison Simpkins (Gary Sernack), Lee Creech, Emily Tucker, Connor Brady, Sam Brady, and Christopher Johnson; one great granddaughter, Lorelai Sernack; two brothers, Ray Brady and Bob (Ginger) Brady both of Amarillo, TX; one sister, Marie Glover of Amarillo, TX; and life long friend and mother of his children, Sue Brady of Point Pleasant. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home with Rev. Richard DeQuasie officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
