Betty J. Jarvis, 83, of Point Pleasant, went home to be with her Lord Monday, April 30, 2018, at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Point Pleasant.She was born April 7, 1935, in Strange Creek, WV, a daughter of the late Carmel M. Boggs and Anna E. (Given) Boggs.Betty was a member of First Church of the Nazarene of Gallipolis, OH. She was a graduate of Widen High School Class of 1953, a member of UFCW Local and retired from Krogers. "One of the strongest women I know took her last breath this morning. She was as tough as they come. She never wanted anyone to go hungry, sewed for people far and wide, loved watching the Cincinnati Reds play, adored her grandchildren, loved rocking those babies and singing the best lullaby to them (which was Rudolph the red nosed reindeer). She was her own person through and through."In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Beulah F. Robinson, Malissa Dawson, Eula Acree, Erma Conley, Eunice Stocklas and Olive Martin.Betty is survived by her husband of 60 years, Daris B. Jarvis whom she married January 1, 1958; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Pam Jarvis of Gallipolis Ferry and Steve and Teresa Jarvis of Owensboro, KY; four grandchildren, Hannah (Ethan) Bauer of Louisville, KY, Erica (Jacob) Gipson of Paducah, KY, Michaela (Gavin) Suver of Thompsonville, IL and Jacob Jarvis of Gallipolis Ferry; two great-grandchildren, Jarvis Bauer and Ezekiel Bauer, with two on the way Oliver Gipson and Norah Suver.A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Mark Stump, Pastor Doug Downs, and Gene Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant.
