Betty Carol Highlander

Betty Carol Highlander, 78, of Beckley, WV, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was born July 1, 1944, in Beckley, a daughter of the late Hampton and Jewel Hensley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa "Sue" Barnette; and a brother, James "Buddy" Hensley. Betty was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1962 and West Virginia Tech. She was a retired florist/owner for Highlanders Florist in Beckley. She was a member of Calloway Heights Baptist Church of Beckley. She is survived by three sons, Shannon Highlander of Fayetteville, WV, Shane Highlander of Cornelius, NC and Sean (Connie) Highlander of Shady Spring, WV; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Hampton (Georgia) Hensley II of Beckley; three additional half siblings; brother-in-law, Grant (Patty) Barnette of Point Pleasant; three nephews, Bryan (Shelli) Barnette, BJ (Sally) Barnette and Barry (Tina) Barnette; and a niece, Cindy Hensley. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2022, at the Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Jonathan Pinson officiating.
