Bertha Queen, 71, of Southside, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 21, 2021, at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant. She was born July 5, 1949, in Banco, WV, a daughter of the late Levi E. and Dovie (Sizemore) Adkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth, Willard and Harlin Adkins; and sisters, Mary Queen and Roberta Stover. Bertha was a homemaker and member of the Wyoma Pentecostal Church at Gallipolis Ferry. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Birdie Queen of Southside; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Doris Queen of Point Pleasant and Birdie Jr. and Angie Queen of Henderson; granddaughters, Cassie Nance, Kristen Queen and Abby Queen; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and her little dog Harley, who was her pride and joy. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Roger Bonecutter officiating.Burial will follow at the Wyoma Cemetery in Gallipolis Ferry.The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Tuesday at the funeral home.Social distancing will be observed and face masks are recommended.
