Bernice I. Jackson, 83, of Southside, WV, went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Point Pleasant. She was born October 10, 1933, in Southside, a daughter of the late Ivan Henderson Newell and Laila Garnet (Dowell) Newell. Bernice was a member and past treasurer of the Beech Hill United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1951 and a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John O. Jackson; and three brothers, James Otho Newell, Robert G. Newell and Paul H. Newell. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Rusty Harbour of Apple Grove; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Diania Jackson of Mason and Tim and Phyllis Jackson of Southside; three grandchildren, Darren Jackson of Mason, Derrick Jackson of Southside and Kari Jackson of Mason. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2017, at the Beech Hill United Methodist Church, with Pastor Nancy Mayes and Pastor Jack Mayes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant. The family would like to acknowledge their appreciation to Dr. H.E.
