Barbara Ruth Smith

Barbara Ruth Smith, 82, of Point Pleasant, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV. She was born October 12, 1938, in Ward, WV, a daughter of the late John Clarence Perkins Sr. and Clara Marie (McCallister) Perkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Lee Smith; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Bowles, June and Rondel Thomas and Paul Jones; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and RoseMary Smith and Ted Smith; and a sister-in-law, Betty Smith. Barbara attended East Bank High School in East Bank, WV.She was a retired manager for Rite Aid Pharmacy, working in the Point Pleasant and Gallipolis stores. She also had attended the Hickory Chapel Church in Point Pleasant. She is survived by her sons, Rick (Shelly) Smith of Ashton, Kevin (Julie) Smith of Portsmouth, OH and Matt (Kay) Smith of Cottageville, WV; two sisters, Jane (George) Boggess of Charmco, WV and Donna (Tim) Stickrod of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother, John Clarence (Wanda) Perkins II of Winfield, WV; brother-in-law, John Bowles of Colonial Heights, VA; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Shirley Smith of Hurricane.She was blessed with six grandchildren, Brandan (Mallory) Smith, Bryan (Jessica) Smith, Klaire Smith, Dakota Smith, Taylor Burchett and Gabrielle Smith; and a great-grandson, Cameran Smith. A private graveside service and burial will be held at the Forest Hills Cemetery in Letart, with Pastor Phil Howard officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mason County Animal Shelter, 1965 Fairground Road, Point Pleasant, WV 25550.
