Arthur Harding Stephens, 94, of Leon, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Eldercare Health and Rehabilitation in Ripley, WV. He was born August 23, 1920, in Leon, a son of the late Samuel Hartford Stephens and Esther Bertie (Sayre) Stephens. Arthur had honorably served his country in the United States Army and worked 33 years for M.T. Epling Sand and Gravel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Francis (Thomas) Stephens; two sisters, Genevieve Lauver and Myrtle Thornton; and three brothers, Miner, Everett, and William Stephens. He is survived by his son, Stanley Eugene Stephens of Leon; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Joe Hammack officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Letart where military graveside rites will be given by the West Virginia Army Honor Guard and American Legion Post No. 23 of Point Pleasant.
