Anthony Wayne Darst

Anthony Wayne Darst, 79, of Henderson, went to be with his Lord Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant.He was born March 1, 1939, in Point Pleasant, a son of the late Franz Lyle Darst and Opal Mae (Turner) Darst.Anthony was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Henderson, where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent, church deacon and member of the trustee board. He served his country honorably in the United State Army for 26 years, was a member of American Legion Post No. 23 of Point Pleasant and past member of the Point Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Payne and Marjorie Gillespie.Anthony is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice M. (Wood) Darst; a son, Shawn (Ginger) Darst of Henderson; six grandchildren, MacKenzie Nicole Darst (Travis), Christian Levi Darst (Angel Dawn), Emilee Joan Darst, Zack McGlone (Mariah), Josh Warren (Elisa) and Ethan Moody; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Ida Mae (Harold) Heugel; four brothers, Franz Dana (Patty) Darst, David Darst, Paul (Mary Ann) Darst and Tommy Darst; multiple nieces and nephews; and his canine companion Oliver.A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Mel Mock officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Henderson where military graveside rites will be given by the West Virginia Army Honor Guard.
