Anna Pauline Shinn

Anna Pauline Craig Shinn, 90, of Leon, left this world to meet her Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 6, 2011. Pauline was born October 1, 1920 in Buffalo, West Virginia to the late Emma Avalon Harrison and David Oscar Craig. She was received in Christian baptism on July 14, 1934 at Coulter's Ford in Eighteen Mile Creek by Minister J.C. Fisher and graduated from Buffalo High School in the spring of 1940. Pauline was a homemaker and also held various jobs including secretary of Leon Elementary School and at West Virginia Ordnance Works. In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Herman H. Shinn, with whom she celebrated sixty-seven years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her younger brother Blair Young, and infant siblings, Elizabeth Young, Ottis Craig, and Kathleen Craig. Mrs. Shinn is survived by her son, David Shinn of Point Pleasant; a daughter, Paula Shinn of Pollocksville, NC; two grandsons, Jason and Kelly Shinn of Mars, PA and Brandon and Virgie Taylor of Cherry Valley, IL; a granddaughter, Cary Beth and Joe Supple of Point Pleasant; two great-grandsons, Logan Shinn and Benjamin Supple; a sister-in-law, Freeda Young of Buffalo, WV, and several beloved friends and family members. A celebration of Pauline's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Leon Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Leon Cemetery. Friends and family may visit at the church from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the funeral. Arrangements are entrusted to Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV.
