Andrew Donald "Deke" Decoy

October 30, 1938 — November 24, 2023

Andrew "Deke" DeCoy of Point Pleasant, West Virginia passed away with his wife by his side at the home of his son and daughter-in-law in North Canton, Ohio on November 24, 2023.  Deke was born at Dilly's Bottom, Ohio on October 30, 1938 to Andy and Mary (née DelVecchio) DeCoy.  His family moved to Gallipolis, Ohio where he graduated from Gallia Academy High School in 1957 and attended Heating & Air Conditioning School in Youngstown, Ohio.

Deke is survived by his devoted wife, Betty Jo DeCoy (née Burris).  They were married on October 18, 1959 and had 64 years of marriage with love and banter.

Deke co-managed Tiny's Foodland with his father-in-law, Mr. Odis Burris.  He went on to be a successful business owner of Kanauga Mobile Homes and pursued many other business ventures as well as real estate investments.

Also remaining to cherish his memories are his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Donald and Becky DeCoy of North Canton, Ohio; his daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Alan Deering of San Antonio, Texas; his sister, Joyce (Jack) Phelps; his six grandchildren, Meaghan Hamer, Chelsea Lazaga, Don DeCoy, Dr. Meredith DeCoy, Lauren Duncan, and Drew Deering, as well as their spouses; and his four great-grandchildren.

Deke will be deeply missed by his family who he always supported and encouraged to pursue every goal they wanted to achieve.  He will also be missed by countless friends and acquaintances who he met throughout his life and many endeavors, particularly through his dedicated walking routine at the local gym.  He never met a stranger, and everyone who talked with Deke immediately felt engaged in conversation with him.  His sense of humor could have anyone laughing before they realized it.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Eugene Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at the Suncrest Cemetery in Point Pleasant. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday.
