Alma N. Mckellop

September 9, 1922 — June 18, 2010

Alma N. Ranson McKellop, 87, of Point Pleasant, had her first sunrise September 9, 1922, and last sunset June 18, 2010. Alma was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved life and doted on her family. She has been a christian since the age of 9, and was a member of Heights United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant. Her devotion to her Lord and Savior was evident to all who knew her. Throughout her life she was actively involved in her church serving many years teaching Sunday School, Bible Schools, and later singing in the choir. In her younger years she was actively involved in visiting and helping the elderly and shut-in's in her community in Georgia. She had worked for 17 years at the Stone and Thomas Department Store in Charleston, WV. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Hoy and True Ranson; sisters, Nancy Ranson Turley and Lenora Ranson Canterbury all of Charleston, WV. Surviving are her loving husband of 36 years, Park A. McKellop; five sons, Rodney Jones and wife Nancy of Sissonville, Teddy Jones and wife Linda of Hurricane, Danny Jones and wife Debbie of Salem, Oregon, Philip Jones of Perry, Georgia, and Park McKellop Jr. of Wichita, Kansas; two daughters, Elaine Winslow and husband Alden of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and Catherine Frazier and husband Jamie of Edwardsville, Illinois. In addition to her children, she is survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 special girls, Ashley and Adrian Chung of Chicago, Illinois, whom she considered also as her grandchildren; and a host of special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Heights United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant with Pastor Janice Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens in Cross Lanes, WV. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
