Albert L. Stephens, 90, of Point Pleasant, went to be with the Lord Friday, February 25, 2022. He was born February 25, 1932, in Point Pleasant, a son of the late Miner E. Stephens and Daisy L. (Slayton) Stephens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte L. Stephens; granddaughter, Jessica Lee Hazelrigg; great-granddaughter, Rylee Joy McCutcheon; and a daughter-in-law, Pam McClung. Albert was a member of the Point of Faith Church in Point Pleasant.He was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1950, where he was drum major for the marching band. He received his Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Marshall University.He served his country in the United States Army and retired with 31 years service from the Mason County Board of Education.He had been a piano player for several quartets, various churches and the Stephens Family.He was known as Pop Paw Stephens to the children of Mason County, with his magical suitcase. He is survived by his children, Leonard A. McClung of Charleston, WV, James C. McClung of St. Petersburg, FL, Charlena G. (Carl "Smokey") See of Point Pleasant, Samuel S. (Martha) Stephens of McCormick, SC and Martha "Marty" (Ernie) McCutcheon of Mooresville, NC; 12 grandchildren, Leonard C. McClung, Shannon E. (Darin) Carney, Misti D. Pickens, Kelly D. Cowan, Robert "Rob" S. (Amy) Chase, Sammy S. (Bekki) Stephens, Nicky A. (Trish) Stephens, Andy R. Hazelrigg, Scott A. Thornton, Bethany S. McQuaid and (Fiance Brad), Jeremy P. (Ali) McCutcheon and Charles Joseph "Joey" (Bethanie) McCutcheon; and great-grandchildren, Logan Jones, Jordan Jones, Tequilla Moles, Adam Cowan, Rebekah Stephens, Edward Stephens, Sydney Stephens, Isaac Albert Stephens, Elliot Stephens, Aidan McQuaid, Esther McCutcheon, Judah McCutcheon, Gideon McCutcheon, Porter McCutcheon, Sutton McCutcheon, Kenzi McCutcheon, Charlee McCutcheon and Landon McCutcheon. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at the Point of Faith Church in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Mark Mayes officiating.Burial will follow at the Creston Cemetery in Leon.The family will receive friends Monday from 6-9 p.m. at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Point of Faith Church or your local church in memory of Albert.
